HAPPENING TODAY

Its the second day of National French week! Here's your French fact of the day. There's only one French word with the letter ù(u with an accent grave), and that's où(o͞o), which translates to "where". Despite it only being used in one word, the letter still gets its own key on the French keyboard.

There are several students who have a negative balance of $10 or more.  Please pay off your accounts ASAP.  If students do not pay off their accounts in a timely manner, we will no longer allow charges for any students until accounts are back in good standing.  Thank you!

IN OTHER NEWS

Are you interested in a career in journalism? Have you dreamed of being a reporter?

ABC's next Career Lunch is Thursday, November 9th.  Greg Little, editor, Mariposa Gazette, will share his stories from his illustrious career as an editor and reporter in the newspaper industry. From traveling with the First Family, to going on site to natural disasters and even shooting guns and racing cars with the CHP, you’ll hear why a reporter is one of the most exciting, yet difficult, jobs. Free pizza for the first 40 students who sign up. Sign up in the Counseling office by Monday, November 6th.

Students under the age of 18 who are employed must have a current work permit on file with the school and their employer.  Work permits must be renewed every year. All permits issued during last school year, including those for summer employment, expired as of September 1, 2017.  Please see Mrs. Bryson in the student services office for a new work permit today.

The annual Manna House food drive and Christmas Dinner project has recently started.  MCHS will be collecting canned and nonperishable food items for Manna House. Watch for collection boxes in classes!

All girls planning to play basketball this season.  Mandatory meeting on Wednesday November 1 at 12:55 in room 55.  Important information will be given out.  All paperwork for all winter athletes needs to be in to Mrs. Chase by next week.  If you do not have paperwork in (including physical) by November 2nd you may not be able to try out.  Get it done!

To celebrate National French Week, French Club is sharing a French word, phrase, or fact each day of the week. Try to remember these phrases because at the upcoming French Carnival on November 7th, there will be some trivia and you can win prizes! To kick it off, if you were ever wondering how to tell someone that they’re going a little koo-koo, in France they say that one is “devenir chêvre,” which translates “to become a goat.”
