HAPPENING TODAY

Congratulations to the FFA members who competed  in the Merced Mariposa Sectional Project Competition and attended the awards banquet last night. Jake Swift earned gold, Makinna Dulcich earned gold and a merit award, Mackenzie Arnold gold, Jaq Quinn gold, Robbie Stark gold, Cali Butler gold and Gauge Butler silver.   Congratulations

 

Reminder: Today is Career Lunch, Dr. Jonathan Harry will be talking about typical paths and his own to becoming a medical doctor.

 

If you are registered for the 2019 trip to France, come to a quick 5 minutes or less meeting at the beginning of lunch to meet everyone going on the trip and see who will win the $250 scholarships.

HAPPENING TOMORROW

French Club Pizza and Movie Night is this Friday from 6-8:30 in room 53.  Please remember to RSVP with Mrs. Dobson and wear your French Club t-shirts Friday.

 

Golf meeting Friday at lunch in room 55.  Tryout format will be discussed.  Practice and match schedules will be handed out.  Please be on time if you plan on trying out

 

IN OTHER NEWS

Students interested biology and the natural sciences should come to the counseling office to learn about a six week summer research opportunity at UC Davis.

 

The Learning Center is running low on loaner Chromebooks. If you have checked out a loaner Chromebook and have your original Chromebook, please return the loaner to the Learning Center.

 

Seniors, you have another opportunity to earn SENIOR POINTS!  Ms. Monson has shared with you a Roses for Valentines Day order form.  Sell to underclassmen, your uncle, your neighbor, your father.  Yes your  father, because your mother deserves roses!  Every 12 you sell earns a point towards Disney Grad Night.  Forms are due next MONDAY, February 12th, so get on it!

 

Scholarship Opportunity: Student Athletes it's time to apply for the CIF Dale Lackey scholarship.  Please see Mrs. Weinburke in the counseling office for an application.  All applications are due Tuesday,  February 27.

 

If you are interested in attending the Fresno State Young Writers' Conference, please remember to submit your entries to turnitin.com by Tuesday, February 13.  If you lost the Class ID to join Turnitin, see Mrs. Dobson.

 

Get you friends together and make a team for MCHS’s First Annual FAMILY FEUD. We need teams of 4 or 5 to compete on Friday evening, March 2. Entry is $20 per team and $5 to watch. We will also have discounted Family Packs of tickets available. Sign up and buy tickets in Mr. Jewell’s class, room 26.

 

FRESHMAN: MCHS is offering freshman the chance to take the PSAT 9 on February 27th. This is a great practice for the PSAT and SAT you will take in future years. Please RSVP in the Counseling office by February 23.

10 spots have opened up for the World Ag Expo next week! Please get a permission slip from Mr. Rowley if you are still interested in going! The field trip is Tuesday of next week.

SPORTS REPORT     

Reminder: Anyone playing a winter sport must complete a new white card and be cleared for a spring sport prior to stepping foot on the spring sport field. You can turn in a new white card now so it is ready to go when you are ready to go out for the spring sport.

 

All JV and Varsity baseball players practice will be on the upper field from 3:15-5:30, every day.

If you are in basketball, soccer, or wrestling please contact the coach.

 

CLUB NEWS

 

There is a Spanish Club Meeting Thursday, February 15th at lunch in Mr. Leuschel's room.

 

Spanish club is selling t-shirts, sweatshirts, and long sleeve t-shirts through February 12th.  Orders can be made through Quinn Whatley.

 

Join the cool kids and order your Drama Club laser cat t-shirt today.  All shirts are just $14 and are locally made by Pathos Screen Printing.  See Mr. Starchman in Room 1 for an order form.

 

FFA NEWS

 

HOMEWORK HELP & TUTORING AVAILABLE

The Learning Center is open at 7:45 before school and at lunch to check out books, work on homework, print out homework, get help with homework, or make an appointment for tutoring. Mrs. Long is ready to help you. The Learning Center is open after school every day until 4:15 for homework time or tutoring services.

Please remember to bring your ID or ASB card to the Learning Center when checking out a textbook or a chromebook.  When checking out a chromebook please remember to return it by the end of the day so it can be charged and ready for the next student to use.
