About MCHS

Mariposa County High School is located in the rural community of Mariposa, California, and is a center of county-wide community activities. The high school provides facilities for academic, cultural, and entertainment activities for the high school population as well as the community at large. Mariposa County is the home of Yosemite National Park, which attracts 3.4 million visitors each year, making tourism the primary industry of Mariposa County. Along with the National Park, visitors to Mariposa County can find fishing, hunting, backpacking, hiking, the California Mining and Mineral Museum, and Gold Rush history. Mariposa County High School is a ninety-nine year old, 9-12 comprehensive high school in the Mariposa County Unified School District.

French Club Members: Please pay your $5 dues to Mrs. Dobson or Sawyer Shaddix and remember to sign up to bring something to our pique-nique de rentree Thursday at lunch.

 

First FFA meeting of year is Thursday evening in Croft court dinner starts at 5:45 and meeting begins at 6pm. Parents are welcomed and encouraged to attend this first meeting.

 

All girls varsity basketball players please come to a short meeting in DeSandres room at lunch.  Important. Basketball conditioning is cancelled for today.

ACT Test - anyone taking the ACT on October 28 should sign up before September 22nd. Stop by counseling for details.

 

There will be a Junior class meeting on Friday, September 22nd, in Mrs. Dobson’s room (53). All members of the Junior class are welcome and encouraged to come. We will be discussing upcoming football concessions that the Junior class is running on September 29th, and there will be sign-ups to help. Please come if you want to be involved with planning prom this year!

Any athlete in need of a tie or two come see coach DeSandres in room 55.He has over 50 really nice ties to give away.

 

The counseling office is looking for a few good tutors! This is a paid position. Stop by the counseling office for details.

 

CSF meeting has been moved to Tuesday the 26th. We will be meeting in room 9 at lunch. Will be nominating officers and voting on activities.

Starting next week, we are going to have lunch Specials in addition to our normal menu items.

Supplies will be limited - First Come First Served

    Tuesday the 26th we will be serving Sloppy Joes

    Wednesday the 27th we will be serving Turkey Chili

Anyone wishing to have input on this years senior t-shirts can send or share their ideas with Ms. Monson, Violet Matlock, or Danielle Marquez. Although artwork is welcome it is not necessary. Submissions can be as simple as a screenshot of a t-shirt you like either on social media, from another school, or from a design website.

 

A special message from the yearbook staff to all 2018 seniors, the deadline for uploading your senior picture is November 1.

Juniors and Seniors, the ASVAB test will be given on October 10th, 8am in the gym. This test is great for career exploration and a great opportunity. Sign up in the counseling office by Friday October 6th.

 

Attention Sophomores - the PSAT test is scheduled for October 11 during school. The fee is $16. If you are interested or have questions, please stop by the counseling office. Deadline to sign up is October 9.

The Learning Center is open at 7:45 before school and at lunch to check out books, work on homework, print out homework, get help with homework, or make an appointment for tutoring. Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors:  Are you eligible to join the California Scholarship Federation this semester? CSF is the state's oldest Honor Society and is recognized by Colleges.  Lists of CSF-eligible students are posted outside the Counseling Office, and applications are available inside.  Please request transcripts from Ms. Weinburke, and turn in your application BEFORE the first meeting of the year, which will be  THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 21.

 

UPCOMING FIELD TRIPS

Dinner with a Scientist will be on October 5th this year. This is a yearly event held at UC Merced to inspire, promote, and engage young women's interest in many of the STEM fields.  If you are interested in being a part of this event, please fill out the application form in the counseling office.
