About MCHS

Mariposa County High School is located in the rural community of Mariposa, California, and is a center of county-wide community activities. The high school provides facilities for academic, cultural, and entertainment activities for the high school population as well as the community at large. Mariposa County is the home of Yosemite National Park, which attracts 3.4 million visitors each year, making tourism the primary industry of Mariposa County. Along with the National Park, visitors to Mariposa County can find fishing, hunting, backpacking, hiking, the California Mining and Mineral Museum, and Gold Rush history. Mariposa County High School is a ninety-nine year old, 9-12 comprehensive high school in the Mariposa County Unified School District.

Attention all Radio Drama actors.  Reminder that we will be running through all of the radio drama scripts in the auditorium on Today from 3-5 p.m.  This will be our ONLY rehearsal and it is mandatory.

 

Please join us for the 3rd annual Youth Voices event at 7pm on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Fiester Auditorium. Featuring live radio drama performances written and performed by youth, and live music by youth bands. All ages are welcome to attend this free event. Snacks offered by the Mariposa County High School Band Boosters will be available for purchase, as well as onsite t-shirt printing by Pathos Screen Printing. This event is sponsored by the Alliance for Community Transformations in partnership with Mariposa County Unified School District.

 

Congratulations to this year's AAUW SpeechTrek participants who all did an outstanding job performing speeches on the topic of, "Is it time to pass the Equal Rights Amendment" to an audience in Fiester Auditorium last night. Special congratulations to Hannah Sweicki who won first place and $150. The video of her speech will be entered into the AAUW state semi-finals. She has the chance of winning up to $1,500. Great job, students!

Local musician and educator Adam Burns, from Bootstrap Circus and creator of the Beat Harvest music education program, will be talking about his path to artistic satisfaction and financial independence and giving you tools to help you nurture your own creativity.  If you are interested in making art part of your future, come join us for a lively conversation with delicious sandwiches from a local deli on Wednesday, March 1st.  Sign up sheets are in the counseling office. SENIORS

SENIORS:  The Senior Class is now selling box seats (the seats in the front of the Gold Bowl) for graduation. You may purchase up to 10 reserved box seats for $5.00 each and earn 1/4 Senior Point for each seat sold. This is a great way for you to earn points. You may purchase the box seats in the counseling office. First come; first served. Seats will be sold until sold out, but remember that all 11 points must be purchased or earned by APRIL 1.

SPORTS REPORT

 

Attn JV Softball: The team is just about finalized.  Now that soccer is over, if you want a tryout, today is your last day.  We will practice today 3:10-4:45.  

 

Wednesday:

Thursday: The girls basketball team will play a home playoff game vs. Vacaville Christian.  Game time is 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students.  Student body cards are not honored at playoff games.  

Golf vs Buhach Colony @ River Creek

Friday: Boys basketball playoffs at Argonaut at 7:00 p.m.  Dismiss players at 1:15. They are leaving at 1:30.

 

Grizzly Football:  Mandatory meeting this Today at lunch in room 57 for any interested in playing Grizzly Football.  This is for both JV and Varsity.

 

Grizzly Football off season Strength Training Will be every Tuesday and Thursday 3:15 to 5:15 starting February 28th.  This is for Grizzlies who are not playing a Spring Sport.  You need a current White card - check with Mrs. Chase at the front office.  Questions see Coach O.

 

CLUB NEWS

There is trap practice tonight at 5 pm at the fish and game range on old hwy. If you are playing a sport, finish practice first then go to trap practice.

 

Dance club is cancelled this Friday. Class will resume Wednesday in the auditorium.

SpeechTrek is happening this Wednesday, February 22, at 6 PM at Fiester Auditorium. Come support Makinna Dulcich, Violet Matlock, Kiki Rizqi, Hannah Swiecki, and Samantha Telles-Trujillo as they perform the 5 to 6 minute speeches they've researched, written, memorized, and rehearsed. Congratulations to the following wrestlers who placed in this weekend's division five wrestling tournament Bob Robinson placed second, Josh Land and Ryan Leonard placed third. These three wrestlers have earned the right to go on to this weekend's Masters tournament. Nathan Vereschagin and Evan Sanders placed fifth missing qualifying for masters by one place.

Thursday: The girls basketball team will play a home playoff game vs. Vacaville Christian.  Game time is 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students.  Student body cards are not honored at playoff games.
